Bronx, NY –Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, known for presenting the best international dance, brings the fierce and fiery COMPAÑIA FLAMENCA JOSE PORCEL to its state-of-the-art concert hall on Sunday, November 1 at 4 pm at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall, 250 Bedford Park Blvd. W. on the campus of Lehman College in the Bronx. Tickets cost $40, $35, $25 (tickets for children 12 and under cost only $10, any seat) and can be purchased through 24 hour online access at www.LehmanCenter.org or by calling the Lehman Center box office at 718-960-8833 (Mon. through Fri., 10am-5pm and beginning at 12 noon on the day of the concert).
The COMPAÑIA FLAMENCAJOSE PORCEL was founded in Madrid, Spain and is among the premier dance troupes that exhibits this exciting art form of flamenco. The Company brings this tradition to life vibrantly and colorfully with live musicians, vocalists and of course dancers and has delighted audiences around the world for many years. From the oldest form of flamenco, cante jondo, an intimate and deep-felt song that recounts the sorrows and hopes of the Gypsies as a people, to a vast repertoire including the solemnity of soleares and the contagious festiveness of sevillanas and alegrias, the company and its artistic director, Jose Porcel, have adorned the art form’s raw purity with high production values and theatricality.
Lehman Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of Lehman College/CUNY at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West, Bronx, NY 10468. Lehman Center is accessible by #4 or D train to Bedford Park Blvd. and is off the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway. Low-cost on-site parking available for $5.
