THE RED ROSE: This award-winning musical inaugurated our Bronx stage on Walton Avenue in 2005 and is based on the life and times of Puerto Rican writer and activist JESUS COLON. The story and songs show Colón’s personal journey from stowaway migrant to public figure, and culminate in his historic face-off with FBI undercover agent Mildred Blauvelt before the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1959. The concert is equal parts history, imagination, and musical bravado! Also featuring original cast members: José Joaquín García, Omar Pérez, and Elise Santora, and welcoming Caridad De La Luz/La Bruja and Shadia Fairuz Live music band led by Musical Director DESMAR GUEVARA. Directed by ROSALBA ROLÓN.
