The New York Botanical Garden Holiday Train Show is one of the enchanting Christmas traditions of New York. Alongside the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, the whimsical window displays along fifth avenue and the fabulous Rockettes, the Holiday Train Show is a must see.
All the splendor of New York City miniaturized
Right here in The Bronx, the New York Botanical Garden brings a miniaturized version of New York City in all it’s architectural splendor of the holiday. Impressing adults with the detailed replicas of New York’s landmarks – 175 buildings and structures to be exact – and mesmerizing children with nearly a dozen locomotives chugging along. This year artist Paul Busse brings us a replica of One World Trade Center, a symbol of strength and resilience, a much needed reminder to carry us hopeful into the upcoming year.
Fun for the Kids and for Adults
Although your visit to the New York Botanical Garden will start with the Holiday Train Show it will not end there. Prepare to enjoy the wonderful sights at the Children’s Garden, and other programs like the Evergreen Express, All Aboard with Thomas and Friends and so much more. All this in addition to the many photo ops you will get to capture family memories with a beautiful landscape as your backdrop. Be sure to travel light and dress warmly, although you can always stop at the Pine Tree Cafe for a hot beverage.
For a more sophisticated perspective of the Holiday Train Show, because let’s face it, sometimes you have to leave the kiddos home and enjoy a night out, there is always Bar Car Nights.
